can i borrow or buy a small tank with hang on filter only for a few days so i can keep my coral and a few fish in for a day or 2

Yup I have been using rubbermaids in this fashion for months. Still don't have a tank. Seen lots of good deals here but not having a car sucks. So I have been using rubbermaids from Target.

+1 put a little LR, heater and powerhead and you should be fine in any container whether its a tank or rubbermaid...maybe invest in a little prime just in case you dont have enough rock to keep up with biological filtration
