Hey guys, found a pic of this fish on nano reef.

wondering what it is.
reef safe?
invert safe?
good for a 34g solana?

yes it is reef safe and the name of it is called a chalk basslet. It will eat like a pig though

Why? It's a pretty common fish and most LFS carry them.

just need to watch him around small shrimp... theyre a very cool fish though and they get along fine with most other reef safe fish

yeah i see them at alot of lfs. i know someone who has a mini school of them. looks really nice. some have nice colorations and some are kinda fadded. i say u look around at a lfs. if you order it online you wont know what it will look like until its sitting on your front step

good post ryan, was thinking the exact same thing after googling images on them. im really looking for a nice colored one. ill have to check around at the stores.

yup. some are kinda dull...more of a gray then the blue for stripes. and the red can either be like a red squirrel fish, kinda dull, or a nice fairy wrasse red. good luck on your hunt!

I actually had a breeding pair...they would surface spawn almost everynight. They get pretty big..The male stays longer and thinner and developed some orange in breeding coloration. I lost the female, but here is the male
