That Monster is the kind that will get you arrested on the subway. Originally I wanted the Deltec 1060s but at $1400 it was a bit steep. One day on RC this guy was selling the DAS BX3 which is identical. They were licensed by Deltec to produce the skimmers. All I did was upgrade the pumps to the newer model, which is the aquabee 2001. Now its the same.Just got it for alot less. Great skimmer, just the size is rather large. The good thing is that it is only 24"tall so it fits under the cabinet. Because it is an insump skimmer options are limited as for placement.

Herm U got that beast running yet? I would love to see some pics.

Sorry to hijack the thread. In the past I used two little fishes hydro carbon, phosban, b-ionic part 1+2, and magnesium.

Rich, that's the skimmer I told you to buy...It's not the same as Deltec (Search Deltec forum there are significant differences....but with that configuration I'm sure it rocks.).
I'd be in for a couple pounds of carbon...anyone want to split a 75'er?
I rarely use it (will today, am doing a flatworm medication trial)...but it's good to have around.

4 pounds of ESV carbon is $19.95 at Marinedepot.com. So I guess reef grade carbon is about 5X the cost of industrial grade stuff.

If anyone is interested I can match this price $20 for a 5lb jug

Did you guys ever got around to making those flanges for the skimmer? I need a set for the top of the reactor.

not really the laser i tried to use was just to weak, it took forever and a day to get through 1/4" material.

I'm going to try the old fashioned way with spykes and use a router.

did it take too long, or did it just melt the plastic? I'm gonna need 2 for a kalk reactor I'm gonna build someday soon, and was gonna bribe my roommate with a bottle of wine to take it to school and cut it.

John, would you mind doing me the other half of that flange at some stage soon? (its the bottom half without the keyholes) as i am going to need to knock that skimmer together when i get back from Australia. I wouldnt bother but it really needs to match the top half.

As far as filter media goes i have used carbon (though not at the moment) and Purigen.
I'm planning on re organising my sump soon and adding a couple of media holders so i can have the flexibility to use then more in the future.
