So I moved a couple corals around in my tank and my maroon clownfish isn't a fan of my work. Yesterday he knocked over one of my acro colonies and I thought it was just a fluke. I put it back and he knocked it over within 2 minutes. I wisely put it somewhere else. I came back today to find another one of my corals on its side. I glued it back on and he's being a prick and going after it again. I'm fending him off with a stick, but is there a way to trick him and make him leave it alone?

are you using epoxy or super glue?

Super glue. (the IC-gel). Both were tall skinny acros that just had a small part glued down. I think I had done a poor job though so he was able to knock it over. I reglued it now and hopefully this will be a bit more sturdy.

if you have a qt you can literally put him in solitary for a few days and try to reintroduce him. He may forget and leave it alone but then again, he may not.

Very good idea. Time to break out the margarita fish trap.

My emerald crab, brutus is like that. If something is glued down in his path he will move it and the rock it is attached to.

He kept shredding my toadstool no matter where I put the thing. I had been trying to scare him away when I caught him doing chopping it up, but he was not scarable. Finally, I smacked him with a stick. Corporal punishment is not cool, but he hasn't done it since...

Good luck with the clown...

I would have to smack a couple more toadstool eating crabs to be sure that it was really the punishment that made him stop. But for this crab, he never touched the toadstool again for whatever reason after the smacking.

welcome to the world of "maroon clownfish" mine is the same. do you have any anenome in there. I got mine one and that kind of keeps her busy. and plus she also wiggles the sand and makes a big mess in the tank. she will literally arrange the sand in her way sometimes even put some on the anoneme. not much you can do. U have to wait and then she will make it "maroon" safe tank, just by arranging anything that she wants in a way that she likes. I get a crack out of her when she puts transports big sea shells. they probably weight as much as her u should really see her swim its so funny. lol from one side of the tank to the other.

This brings back memories of my late maroon. She used to annoy the crap out of me. So many times i thought it was the flow knocking things around. That is until i finally caught her. I couldn't believe my eyes when i saw her actually carrying big pieces of rocks around. It was so funny. After a while, i learned that keeping things away from her anemone was far easier than getting her to leave it alone. If anything though, try putting it at a time when she's not looking, like at night or something. If she sees the new stuff going in, it's a definate knock down. Good luck!
