Corals detached from the base

Hi, I have an hammer coral and candy cane detached from the base and fell to the sand bed. What could be the problem?

tank perameters? mainly cal, dkh, mag?
do you have a probe?
any other corals in the tank that been acting weird?
lighting?
good current? too much current?
salenity?
how olds the tank?
ect...

detached from the base? you mean the branches broke from the rock? or you mean the head came off the skeleton?

It's not uncommon for a Hammer or Frogspawn to have the head fall off the skeleton and into the sand, and still be alive. Check your PH, Alk and Cal, also what salt are you using? I had this problem when I was using Coral Life salt.

yes, some of the heads came off the skeleton but not all.

PH - I used the redsea test kit and it uses the color not number. It's in the good range.
dkh - I used the redsea test kit and it uses the color not number. It's in the good range.
mag - didn't test.

tank is 3 years old. corals are 2 years old and the problem just happen recently. I use PC light (72W). I'm using Oceanic salt mix.

Those red sea test kits are no good from my experience. Sorry to hear about your corals.

I have had it happen as well and none of mine recovered. I am not sure if it is the water motion or just that the coral is failing to thrive.

I hae had Shrooms come off the rock they were attached too, but really nothing else. U usually just glue them back on. I know one of the heads for my Torch Coral died and fell to the sandbed. The rest of it is fone. Somtimes its not your fault it is just nature, things die.

Sounds like a crappy gluing job. Use more glue.

...Wait, you mean the polyps bailed, leaving behind skeleton and a separate polyp? Or did it RTN? Or did the skeleton get eaten through by something and drop the skeleton and polyp? I'm confused. Pics?

The polyp, or flesh part, start to come off the skeleton, usually it tears on one side and falls off. It's actually still alive and if your tank doesn't have a lot of low it will still be alive on the sand bed.
