i currently have a kent nautilus TE rated for 300 gal i believe.i have a 110 tank with a 30 gal sump.and if so what would u recommend

If the skimmer is rated for tanks up to 300g and you only have a total volume of water of 140g i don't see any reasons to upgrade.

There are MANY reasons. If you stay in this hobby long enough, you will find out that skimmer ratings are extremely inflated.

took the words right out of my mouth :)....

and even though lets say the skimmer is rated at watever its rated at, if its a piece of crap and skims hardly anything does that make it good since its rated at 300 gallons  i dont think soooooo...

i hope no 1 gets insulted by this, but i have seen 2 many people offering advice who have been in the hobby way to short of time. its great that you guys are trying to help but its just making everything so much more confusing for the members trying to get things right... just a thought learn a lil something, sit back and take the passenger seat for a while (i was told this a long time ago) i did it and learned a thing or 2 through experience and reading...

hey duke post some pics of the skimmer in action... lets see the bubbles its making and the skimmate ur getting... ohhh and take a big wiff of that skimmate and tell us how it smells

Bad advice. :headache:

Skimmer ratings are very much like car manufacturer's HP ratings. It all depends on who's testing and under what conditions.
