i just want to cover all questions i possibly can lol. if the power does go out, and i will be able to run the tank regulary during the day through my generator should i continue my regular dosing schedule? i do plan to keep the lights off and only run a return pump,mp40 and my heater, if the power outage extends i will run the whole tank through the generator.

If your not running lights or your skimmer, there is a possibility that the uptake of elements by the corals won't be the same. I mean if the corals aren't opening up because of no light I don't see them using up as much alk and calcium. I would keep up on testing and see if it drops.

With the power out I would just cease everything and keep an eye on the tank. What's the point in adding more potential issues? Just keep the tank topped off and running, a few days without dosing isn't going to kill anything so why possibly complicate things further? In that situation you should be in survival mode because you have no way of knowing just how long the power will be out so stick to the vitals.
