I am looking to drill TWO 3/4" inch holes on each side of my 75 gallon stand and was curious if this would impact the stability of the stand. Anybody ever done this before? Thanks in adavance.
If the stand is built properly there should be zero impact drilling four 3/4" holes. We drill holes in floor joists for plumbing when building homes all the time, and those don't fall down
if its a perfect round hole you can make the stand look like swiss cheese as long as the holes are like 2 1/2 inches away from each other with no effect its when you cut square holes that leave a structure unstable
Trying to mount a light hanging kit? I just went through the same thing which need me to drill 3 holes on each side of the stand wood board, and the holes are pretty close to the edge, the stand turns out okay.
your holes should be minimum of 2 inches from the edges of the tank. i would say 2 1/2 from edge to center of hole.if you make them less its ruins the integrity of the wood structure
