I just tested a 30 gal. batch of ESV salt that I measured the dry parts with a scale for the first time. ( I usually just use the measuring cups.) These are my results. All tested with Salifert kits.

Temp 78.5
S.G. 1.025 (w/ refractometer)
Mag 1410
Cal 500
Alk 9.9
pH 8.3
Nitrates 0

Just curious to see what others ESV users get.

Curious what the difference between your old method of measuring salt parameters were versus measuring by weight? (Believe we spoke over the weekend at GA)
When measuring salt by volume I ran into the issue of magnesium being too low, trolling around 1200, which turned out to be when measured by weight, close to 30 grams per 8 gallons of made water off to tune it to 1300 or 60 grams per 16 gallon water change I do 2 x a week.

The good thing is it is easily corrected with accurate dry weight measurement of ESV sodium cloride and magnesium sulfate so you can dial in your batches.

When I made up this batch I first used the measuring cups and put 9 cups of the first dry part into a container. I then gradually put it into a container on the scale. When I reached the correct dry amount, I had about 1/3 of a cup left over. So there was a definite difference. But when I did the same with the 3 cups of magnesium, it was very close to accurate. I think I added maybe a gram to reach the proper weight. But obviously the parameters I reached using the weight method were where they needed to be.
