He will, but first he is going to document the sad series of unfortunate events that caused him to lose all his Acros (not his whole tank ) that has lead to the opportunity to make the switch and experiment. .

That's a sad news, Sanjay's tank was so inspiring... looking forward to read about it though, because well... mistakes (ours or others') are what makes us learn as long as we do not persist in repeating them.

I find these confusing since the topic went from hours on Led lighting. MH lighting reflecting better coloring and growth.. Seeing why Sanjay switch to Led lights. I'm confused........I find that the egg reading is different if your lighting is to bright or not enough light which will give you different reading.

That is an interesting theory Rich. Certainly my tank fits your description though I'm not sure all nice LED lit Acro tanks do. If you are correct, that is awesome news for LED owners--slack on your husbandry a little bit and improve your success!

ha! i was just doing this experiment on my tank a month a go. i added more bio load (2 more fish in my 34g 6 in total) and hold back on my water change. after 1 month of no water change my sps starting to die from bottom. see no growth. but the lps have better color for sure.

i put my radion in 12k mode for 4 hour and 20k 2 hr. at 55%
my sps have great growth when i was doing 10gallon water change bi weekly. but its pale. when i try more intense (70%) lighting the paler it gets.

i think the trend of going big with skimmer does not really go well with LED light. i have to agree with Rich that LED need dirtier water. not by slacking husbandry, but to balance out nutrient export.

i will try to tune down the skimmer to a dry skim and report back in a month.

I switched from 3 -250 watt raduims mh.to 6 a360w kessils .so far I'm happy with them .i have a few peices
which Held the colors pretty good if not got better color example Oregon tort .bali green slimer.cali tort .jesus stag.myagi tort .i love the shimmer with my halides looks like ur veiwing the tank like ur swimming in it as if u were snorkeling or diving .thats the best way to describe kessils shimmer .as far as growth im getting good growth.maybe not as good as with the halides but who really knows there's so many factors that can go into that result.i would have to say also I really don't feel like you would save money in electric by going to leds over halides .without the halides the heater goes on more so I think that becomes a wash .

I wanted to get some more actinic blue to my lighting for like a dusk and dawn effect .i was gonna go with my old settup which was with vhos but I wanted a cleaner look so I some how decided just to try it and go all led .i did have a kessil a350 on my frag tank which I loved .so I bit the bullet

Aaaa I understand I have a Kessil 150 the deep blue over my 30 rimless along with my 250 radium as a a dusk and dawn effect. I only run them for a hour before and after.
