Glass for DE MH

Hey Guys,

I have a coralife fixture, the one with the arm that attached the tank. I've modified it so I can use it as a pendant instead. Anyhow, it comes with a curved glass "sleeve" that goes around the bulb for UV protection I would assume. There's another place that I could slide an extra piece of glass in for added protection, just wanted to know if it had to be tempered or if I could use a regular piece of glass from HD or Lowes.

the heat from bulbs might shatter the glass and uv glass is different from regular glass so for all the worries if you want ad another pices of glass go with the one that carolife make that just my op ...amazon sell alot coralife products you might find an new shield there if that help..

I should have added its to help prevent salt creep on the reflector and the actual shield that came with the fixture. I'll try to take some pics to better explain

if the 'sleeve' is part of the reflector, you can use regular glass. If the 'sleeve' is part of the bulb, you need UV glass.

Sleeve, is seperate from the bulb Brett. I don't want the glass to serve as a UV protector, if it filters out some extra thats great but no neccessary.
