No, if that were the case, I would be overrun with them in my 39 year old tank.
I don't know where these rumors start.
I know that is the thinking but I have not found that to be the case.
I have about 20 of them but only because I am too lazy to stick my hands in there to kill all of them. Some of them are in places where I would have to move rocks to get to them and they don't bother me so I leave them there.
I kind of like a few of them as long as they remain a few. After all, they are anemones which are a normal part of the sea, we just choose to kill them because we like other stuff better. Years ago we actually tried to keep these things alive and paid more for rocks with mojanos on them. Yes I know, wierd.

i don't think thats going to work. give it a month your going to have a colony of those (%$#@$%) everywhere. your better off removing the rock. i had some on a rock and what i did was cover the rock from light so they could get any light. in two days they were out and i could remove them by hand, they were not stuck in a hole because the were looking for light. those guys if populated can destroy you tank.

Nyeyce I don't know about a month but I have been doing this for about 30 years.
I may be spreading a few, I don't really know, but if that were the case, I think I would have nothing but mojanos.
Of course I could be wrong but that is what happens in my tank.
I will squish ten or so today and see if I notice more of them in a month. Hows that?
So, no one try this until I do my experiment. Now I have to count them to see if they multiply.

My experience is that this will NOT break them up and cause them to appear everywhere, but getting all the pieces of them off the rock is hard and in all likelihood you will have several more in the same spot in a month or so.

I'd sure love to hear that you have a solution for these nasties. They basically destroyed my 37g tank a few years ago.

No, it's not a wire brush, that may be too stiff to get in the crevices. I thought it was a wire brush because it is so old I forgot when I made the thing but I see that it is a stiff regular brush. You just twist a few times and the thing turns into smoke. Sometimes, if you brush side to side, the entire amemone comes off in one piece. If that happens I suck it out with a sucky thing like this.
Josh just now I smoked about 20 of the little suckers. I will see if in a month any of them come back

i do the same thing, but with a toothpick :lol2: but if you dont rub them out real good it'll come back in the exact same spot....so next time i put kalk paste on them and then rub them out :shhh:
