Hermit Living in a shoe?

Has anyone had any success with hermit crabs living in strange things?

I would love to try tiny coke bottles, or maybe the shoe from monopoly.
Anyone have any interesting ideas.

My thinking here is that this will bring an interesting, and comical aspect to the tank that everyone will appreciate.

Their "tails" are curled and designed to grab in the spiral tunnel of the shell, so they don't fall out. And they like to find shells that have openings matching their larger claws so they can use the claws to block the openings when there is danger. I doubt anything described above will be of any interest to them.

Isn't the shoe from monoply pewter. I think that will leak something into the tank.
