:irked: Is this thread about a tank buy or a mandarin?

I like the idea of this tank! It looks awesome!

I stated earlier, that If I couldnt properly care for the fish I would Move him to a place where he could live properly

DRPERETZ. I appreciate your advice/knowledge/experiance.
Im not getting a new tank for the mandarin.
I want a bigger tank. More room for growth of the various corals I have, Its alittle tight right now.

My question is now.
Should I get a custom made tank to be about 40-45 GL(designed as a copy of the smaller 34 gl tank I want), or should I just buy the complete(and exactly what I want but alittle small) 34 GL I am planning on.
If you answered the custom 40-45 tank, Do I need a sump? I dont want a sump, so If yes was your answer, im not doing that.

No, you do not have to have a sump. Deltec has some very powerful hang on skimmers that I have seen in action on 60+ gallon tanks. I am sure there are other skimmer brands out there that also make hang on skimmers. A hang-on refugium is unnecessary and there has been quite a lot of argument on these boards as to whether they actually work to reduce nutrients. I've been running my new tank for a month now and my nutrient levels seem to be staying at zero even though I'm no longer running my fuge. Other members removed them and saw a drop in PO4 and NO3 levels.

I looked at your gallery and your tank doesn't really look too overstocked. Instead of jumping into an upgrade, I would price out the different options, weigh the pros and cons and really think about what you want and need for the future. If it were me, I would do the 40-45g (obviously, because that is what I did). But you should keep in mind in your upgrade that if you want more room for your corals, you need more surface area. Building up isn't necessarily going to give you that. So, if that is your goal, I see no huge difference if you're talking about a few extra inches on the top.

Solana It Is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats What Im Getting. Done And Done

Lissa, I was just thinking that.
Now The eason i decided on the solana is:
It is the same width as my tank, but it's 5 inches(+33%) deeper. That is just the little bit of extra room im looking for.
Also... The setup is better than mine(so i think) and I like the look of it more. It also has a auto water top off(I must fill the storage jug, but hey, its better than me pouring half a gallon in every day and guessing). And I think I can make a much larger resovoir for the ro/di water. And the tanks low surface area/# Gallons will keep evaporation to a minimum.
And I can use my current lights(which saves me a few hundred $)
The refugium is to help pods reproduce to feed my mandarin.

Is that solid enough reasoning.
Im a very impulsive person, so I hope I have justified myself, and im not just BS'ing myself.
