Hello all,

an acrylic builder has a reduce price on a new 96x36x24 w/ all 3/4" thickness for sale. Its got imperfection on top seams. They assure me that it doesnt affect the integrity of the tank and is under warranty.
See attached pics and let me know what u guys think. I dont care much for cosmetic imperfections but as long as tank is solid, i am happy.

That's a good size tank and you don't want to have an issue with it breaking, so I suggest you reach out to another acrylic tank builder and get an opinion on it if there is any problem with tank.

A warranty is great but if the tank breaks you're going to have a lot of water damage that isn't going to be covered under that warranty.

I'm not sure what I'm looking at, are the sheets completely intact, but the cement in between the top piece and side wall filled with bubbles? It looks like there wasn't enough solvent? or did the acrylic crack?
Did the top sheet "shift" off the side sheet causing that distortion?
If there are just bubbles, that is not an issue. If it shifted and moved back and then the solvent dried, I don't think that's an issue either, but that one photo looks like chips.

Yes weld on, or some other solvent could fill it in the seem, but they should do it, not you. Along that train of thought, they probably have done it already themselves, which makes me think that they already did, and what you're looking at is the patch job, which would make it sound, but not transparent.

I can't really say, based on your photo. I've only glued acrylic once and once the piece touch, they have seconds to move it into the right position.
