I spent the whole day setting up my 50g and 30g. At the end it kind of backfired a little but not really. I have 2 drains going into 1 sump. I from the beginning thought that the return was going to be a problem but it turns out the drain was the problem. Can someone come over and help me today (that can solve this problem). The problem is that it drains too slow and returns too fast. I just purchased a mag 9.5 from Ronen. It returns to quick. I need someone to come over and take a look with me. I'll be home almost the whole day. If you can help PM me or post here.

if it returns too quickly put a ball valve on the return pipe to slow it down. specifically put the ball valve where the pump sucks the water in.

No the pump is fine. Its the drain. I have it set up so the 2 overflow is drained into a "T" pvc pipe and then from there in turns into 1 hose but...for some reason it doesn't go down quick enough. Theres no way of explaining it without seeing it.

The hose going into the tee must go into the part where it will flow straight and not bounce off the back of the tee if this makes sense....

what tpye of drains do you have,a drilled tank ,built in overflows or hand on back over flow.

What size is your drain line ..they should be 1" for the 50 and it cant hurt for the 30 either ,but you can go 3/4 if you like .

the Tee may be restricting the flow. try leaving both drain lines seperate and see what happens. a mag 9 is pretty small to be causing problems. If u have an external overflow box using a larger u-tube or adding a second one may help.

Right now it sounds like you have a traffic jam in your drain pipe, it's like taking the LIE and making it 1 lane. That Tee is what the problem is.

Agreed. Cut the T out and let both pipes drain to the sump separately.

You need to take the T out and replace it with a larger one. Not sure if they make something that is 1" x 1" x 2" but that would solve the problem. If you have 2 1" drains connecting to 1 1" pipe then your not getting the 600 gph through each pipe because of the bottle neck in the T. Instead of getting the 1200 gph from 2 separate drains. If that makes any sense.

Ok guys...I went to fish town today and picked up a ball valve. And it worked PERFECT. BUT!!!....I'mma give up. One of the baffle fell apart. I spent like 2 days on this thing and I GIVE UP. No more DIY sump.

Anybody got a sump/fuge to offer? Or make me one. i'll pay you. I want one that has a refugium in the middle. IF you already have one Let me know i'll buy it from you. Preferablly 20g long sump, I want a big fuge.
