72 degrees is not way low, but how far did temp drop? If it's a few (2-5) degrees I'd say your fine. Much more may stress your livestock. I would just bring temp up slowly, as not to shock tank again.

Good luck.

i would not worry so much, just gradually get the temp to rise again. it would be to much of a shock to get the temp back up all at once. my temp probe on my controller failed and had my chiller running 24/7 for a whole weekend....of course i was away when this happened and my tank was 64 degrees when i got back and i did not lose anything.

I keep the temp between 78 and 80. It was 80 at 3pm yesterday when my MH's wentoff.
I unpluged the ballast's today so the temp would rise slower. 74.4 now. All the livestock seems to be OK. But Iam concern with the temp swing more than anything.
Thanks for your input. I feel alittle better.

I think the corals and inverts will be fine but just monitor your fish because a big temp change can bring upon ick

Actually the quick temp change brings the fish stress, and that is what causes the ich outbreak.

Bring the temp up slowly and you should be fine. Sometimes there are cold currents in the ocean ;)
