Laying some Kalkwasser paste on em usually kiils them but if you don't get all of it they will return, I have some in my smaller tank that I keep in check that way. I had a File fish in my bigger tank and he took care of all the Aptasia and then hopped in my overflow and that was the end of him. Too bad I was getting attached to the little fella...... Be Aware !!They do tend to nip at other corals...at least mine did..

Shrimp, crabs, they are opportunistic feeders. If you are feeding your tank they have no reason to search out new sources of food.
I have a 140g. At 1 shrimp per 10g, that would be 14 peppermint shrimp (yes, I can add...yay!). That's alot of mouths to feed which increases your bio-load and creates unnecessary exess nutrients. Not to mention, ANY shrimp or crab is a risk when introduced to a reef tank. I'll take my chances with one or two. 14 seems like the odds start to lean against you.
^^^^^^^The above mentioned comments are only my opinion and experience. Which, when combined with peanut butter and jelly, will still only get me a sandwich to snack on.

I didnt say that it wasnt a good idea just said that I didnt think it was necessary. I didnt starve my tank and they dissapeared. As far as the amount of peppermint shrimp I think the more the merrier they eat detritus and algae not saying again it is necessary but I was just relaying what Ivan told me. take your PB and J sandwhich and chill.
Take the appropriate steps to keep your reef clean and dont worry about bioload. The most beautiful reefs I have ever seen have an insane amount of fish and corals and there bioload is through the roof. It is all about the nutrient export. If you want an empty tank and a light bioload then by all means.

Ok so it was suggested i just remove and nuke the rocks. Hopefully it hasn't already spread. If I do this is there anyway I can maybe save the corals that are on them (zoas) by breaking them apart and only saving the pieces with out aptasia?

You could frag them out if you would like, but I wouldnt nuke entire rock if I were you. If you Nuke the rock you will have to cure it, deal with the smell, or throw it out. If you need help, I got some of that Aiptaisia X I was telling you about I could help you out. PM me if I am in Brooklyn.
