I must say that i finally decided to get an R/O unit. After receiving it, i cant believe why i waited. I ordered a 75 gallon per day 4 stage unit with a DI unit. It came with everything including a TDS (total dissolved solids) electronic meter. I LOVE IT!! Though i have only made a gallon so far...i tested it and compared it to my tap water. My tap water had a tds reading of 85ppm, poland springs (to my surprise) tested at 35 ppm....R/O unit tested at 3ppm. WOW! I can;t wait to test the phosphate .... I am already getting ready to buy a second under the sink !

In case you are wondering, i researched the units and found this one at a significant savings for those interested. I paid $149.00 for it plus shipping of $25.00. That included all the hoses and the TDS meter. I got it right on ebay from a company in Florida. They go by the name reefpure on ebay...below is the link to the auction i won if interested. THEY WERE GREAT! And...no i don;t work for the company....I am a broker here in New york...

I will keep you posted when i complete the phosphate test if anyone cares...

here is the link...

I too bought this unit and got GREAT customer service. I bought it from him today, and am eagerly awaiting the unit.

How can you beat a 4 stage RO/DI unit for $179, with all the bells and whistles!

I'll keep you all posted on the unit. If his products is just as good as his customer service, I'll be buying more stuff from this guy.

wow! Sounds like a deal. I think I may pick one of these things up. Is it overkill to get more than a 4 stage RO/DI unit?

Well, initially I was thinking of going with a RO unit, but the tap water here in Chicago isn't the best, filled with phosphates.

That's the main reason I went with a RO/DI. I'm believe that the RO/DI is the best water I can get, correct me if I'm wrong.

reeferbrad, which system did you get?

I got the tornado.

I bought my RO/DI unit from Aquatop USA. It is a 5 stage system. It was a 50 GPD system that I upgraded the membrane to a 75 GPD. He sold me the unit for $192 for the 50 GPD.

I am happy with his support, prices, and replacement parts. I have found no one who sells a 75 GPD membrane for $45 out the door. He sells the 1 micro pre-filter for $7 and the Sediment prefilter for $10

He tells me that with his unit my DI cartridge will last 5 years.

His unit holds up pretty close to what it is rated for. In about 8-10 hours I have 38 gallons of good water with regular pressure.

I purchased the unit a year ago and now they all seem to be lower according to what everyone is paying. He use to sell a ton on Ebay a year ago.

If anyone knows who sells the filters cheaper let me know

Dave is the past ceo of Aquafx. He is a decent guy and he just started Reefpure.

In fact Dave took it upon himself to help me with an Aquafx screw up even after he had left.. thats customer service.

I agree with both of you, whirley and Baalz. I posted a topic this morning about a broken connector on my AquaFX unit, which I emailed AquaFX a week asking for help and have had no response, Dave from ReefPure emailed me offering to send me the connector free of charge. He is shipping it out today.

Because of his initiative and help I will continue to use ReefPure for all of my filter accessories.

I grabbed a 200 gpd ro/di Hurricane. Very quick response and professional service so far. I'll let you guys know how good it works when I get it. I want to try out my TDS meter as well.
And yes, Dave was the CEO for Aqua-FX.

I just e-mailed Dave about whether or not his replacement filters would fit the AquaFX Barracudda.

When I got my system from AquaFX, they really had some awesome customer service. I've not dealt with them since last December, so I'm not sure how it's been since then.

I'll let you all know what his response is.

I wonder what the deal with AquaFX is. It's sort of unusual that the CEO would leave a company (it seems like EVERYONE left AquaFX that used to be there).

So far I've been extremely satisified with Dave. My initial shock was that he returns emails quite quickly. I swear, this guy must have a cell phone and a laptop attached to his hip. ;-)
