How is one supposed to be able to switch to "captive propagated" specimens if the proposed "ban" on collecting wild ones takes place (insert tongue firmly in cheek here).

Are we supposed to pull new captive raised ones out of our butts?

Slow to propagate... yeah... the BTA I put in a maintenance client's tank 5 years ago is now 4 anemones. Really slow.

Wayne Ryan is an attorney, for those who wonder. At least the last time I checked, he practices in real estate closings. So if you're buying a house in British Columbia, you might want to look him up.

The attorney thing accounts for much of the doublespeak ;)

I've got fish to unpack...

Before moving on with the next additions to the Restricted Species List (RSL) I want to briefly comment on the posters.
To those who question his credentials? Please post your bio, the books and papers you have written etc
To those who question his awards? Tell me about yours? MASNA, AMDA, anything.

Nanocat, I don't have the answer to your question but I will try to find the answer as it is an intelligent question.

Thanks
Wayne

do you understand why this is an antagonistic and inflammatory post?

do you understand that out of all of the posters on this forum, you have the LEAST right to ask for ANYONE'S credentials? (and you certainly have not even the beginnings of the qualifications necessary to even begin to assert that you know which qualifications are relevant to answer quality)

Approximately ten years ago, most hobbyists had very little success with anemones. See here http://trickstr.tripod.com/survey_r.htm

Now, BTA's are reproducing and taking over displays routinely. The only thing these lists will do is stifle innovation and progress.

Historically lot was done by hobbyists to improve upon the variety of fish and coral but that was ten years ago.

Today scientists, expert hobbyists and industry types and universities do advance studies.
The old try and error at the expense of the fish and coral is no longer tolerated.
As a scientist I would hope that you would comment on Shimek's comments.
Do you agree with him or not?
Thank you
Wayne Ryan

do you understand how ridiculous that type of statement makes you look ?

I don't see this going anywhere useful or cordial.
