return pump ?

i have a deep blue triton 4

my tank been running fine but as of today i noticed the water level in my tank looked higher then normal the return pump was on but the sump level was low to (top off empty at this point its in the display tank) so now that my tank level is 2 inches higher i check all the pipes for the drain etc took everything apart figured maybe a snail or something but no completely clean what could this problem be i have no idea

i unplugged the return pump on and off but it will never stay at 1 level either it wants to overflow from the sump or overflow from the tank its like the pump level power changes the answer cant be dial it down because it has been running perfect for a while on BOTH drain and return 100% open for a few months now????

Just do a T on the return, and add a valve. This way you can control how much water goes back into DT and how much goes back to the sump. Or even do a manifold so you can you feed your reactors of some sort.
