I like Tropic Eden Tonga Reef Flakes. I think it looks beautiful and it's like $25 per 30 lbs. Premium Aquatics sells it. Check it out!:approve:

+1 i added tropic Eden reef flakes to my existing sand bed with out rinsing. It was perfect size and very clean and white. If you could make shipping free with other purchases from premium aquatics I would highly recommend it

Actually the reef grade sand from Premium Aquatics qualifies for free shipping on any order over $175. It's a great deal. I just received 120 lbs a few days ago for my new setup. Gorgeous sand, not too big or too small and supposedly rinses clean very fast.

Thanks. I have two 40 gallon breeders and my fuge to think about and two buckets of sand. I wonder what it would look like if I ordered a bag or two and mixed it in? This sand already has some sort of black specks through it so not the nicest but cheaper than buying all new. Here is the answer to my question:

The specific gravity of sand is between 90-130 lbs/cubic foot.

5 US gallons = 0.668402778 cubic feet

90 * 0.66840277 = 60.15625002
130 * 0.668402778 = 86.89236114

I don't have a scale, how much sand do you think fills a 5 gallon bucket (I have two)?

90 * 0.66840277 = 60.15625002

IME, a 5g bucket can hold 80-90 lbs of sand
