I am looking for something that will nibble on GSP to keep it in check (it's taking over the tank) and not bother other things. Does such a thing exist?

I've heard members have had to break down their tanks and cook their rocks to get rid of GSP. Don't want to do that. Many thanks!

You shouldn't have introduced it to your tank in the first place. I would peel the mat and glue it to the back wall. That way you can frag it easily in the future.

I know - noob mistake... I almost feel like putting epoxy over places where I don't want it - any downsides to that (other really wet skimming for a while)?

That would be awesome!!! Please do check!

Marki, while I started out with one rock covered in GSP, now it's several places in the tank, some of which are difficult to get to - I suspect my tuxedo urchin spread the plague...

But I would be more than happy to trade the GSP-covered rock if anybody is interested.

Thanks, Lissa - if Jhov's crab doesn't work out, that sounds like a good plan. Any advice on specifics - or just mix some paste, and squirt it from a syringe?

Put it in my tank and it will stop growing.

I did have one on a shell that kept covering the shell and I would frag it and it would grow back. But when I put it on the rocks it just stayed the same size.

Saw them once about 2 yrs ago. They came in on a GSP colony and we had no idea until 1/2 the colony disappeared. We were pulling out atleast a hundred of them a day and it never made a dent. Eventually I just tossed the colony, there was no other choice. The nudis were the same purple as the GSP membrane and had green tentacles like the polyps. Each tentacle that came off during extractions grew into a new nudi..... such a pain. They aren't brought in on purpose, I guess you just have to get "lucky".

OK, so here's an FTS with the GSP areas highlighted:

So - Kalk to kill off the undesirable growth? And just be very VERY careful with it? Thanks, -A

I've been trying to do just that - it's easy to do on a smooth surface. On LR, however, much more difficult - and I am afraid that I will get fragments that will float away and take hold elsewhere (like overflow).
