It's been a slow winter as far as snow goes... Don't think that the forecasters and the media don't get a little kick back from the shovel, rock salt and generator companies if they scare 2/3 of the tristate area into clearing the shelves. I believe its about $$ for the most part. Hype it up, make the sales, then call it what it is. I'll believe 10-12", but 30"??? We'll see. Big Storm, sure, so I guess, better safe than sorry.

fredro its majority stock market in regards to the scare. All the public calcium, magnesium and salt deicing companies as well as generator ect companies. its all a big business to make the money

We also got a Sissy snow fall on Nassau Long Island. We got about 8". no where near the two feet they predicted. If you are old enough you know they always inflate snow predictions. I am not complaining about the snall snowfall, just the predictions.

We easily got over a foot on the south shore of LI and we're still forecast for another 10 hours of .6 inches per hour... so at least for me, we've hit the 12-18" mark easily and are pushing beyond that... either way better safe than sorry

Here in Rye neck about 8" of snow. Your right Paul! When I was small we only had shovels and they never plowed the side streets. Some places got hit hard but most escape with normal snow fall. For the city to shut down on weather man forecast. Just shows you Mother Nature you can never truly predict. I have to say weather channel had it right. They called 8-12 inches. Where 2,4,5,7 calling for 18- 24 range.
