Storing live rock

I'm storing a bunch of live rock from my former set-up for a new one. I'm storing it in buckets with power-heads. Does anyone suggest I do water changes or is the water ok as long as I add water to make up for evaporation? Also, some of the rocks did have hair-algae on it and I'd hate to re-introduce it into the new tank. The rocks are held in darkness and there's no food food/nutritents being added into the buckets - will it starve out on its own?

I would recomend to use a small skimmer.this way you keep all rock and water clean.

I only have the in-sump skimmer I was using on my tank. It'll take up the whole bucket! :spin:
