So I've been fighting green hair agley for some time know. I've tried EVERYTHING from scrubbing the rock to gfo, carbon to pointing a power head at the rock and it still comes back. Lights are on 8 hours and are 3 months old. I do 20% water Chang ever Friday with a 5 stage ro/di

Ive been having the same issue and like you I tried everything. What is slowly working for me is #1 cut way back on feeding and only doing frozen food once a week the rest of the time its pellets, #2 increased my flow no dead spots, #3 keeping my ph, alk, and mag up, #4 wet skimming #5 change out gfo and carbon every 2 weeks, #6 blow the all the crap off the rocks with a turkey baster at least 3 times a week. Thats my checklist and after a few weeks of sticking to it my hair algae is starting to die off

check your parameters in your RODI system. That seemed to be my problem when i had hair algae issue, noticed a difference right away. Got a Abalone snail and Tiger Cowrie and they cleaned up rather quickly.

I saw a thread where microbe lift special blend was recommended for gha and cyano problems.

I have had the same problem since restarting from the hurricane, I am guessing the cause of mine is from my sand (I am going to change that as well), but not positive. I was dealing with Cyano before the hurricane, which was likely either the sand or the rock. I have pukani rock from BRS, which I gave an acid bath to clear any organic stuff left behind, so I would be surprised if the rock was causing problems (pre hurricane). I pulled some sand today with a WC and there did seem to be a good amount of muck in it.

I just did my first dose of special blend this past friday and there seems to be a slight difference in the texture of the hair algae, so that could be a good sign. If you want to give it a shot most LFS will carry it at a fairly low cost. I got mine from Pets Warehouse in Carle Place.
