I just picked up a RO/DI system.

Here are a few questions:

1) There is a valve on the unit that let's me control the amount of waste water that comes out. If I set it so it is a 1 to 1 ratio of good to bad water, other than the fact that the good water comes out a bit slower, are there any other ramafications?

Yes.

If what you have is a flush valve, keep it closed during normal system operation.

If what you have is an adjustable flow restrictor, adjust it so that you have a waste to permeate (good water) ratio of about 4:1. If you close the valve more than that you will likely shorten the life span of your membrane.

When you have it adjusted to a 4:1, what is your water pressure?
