Honestly dude a 220 would be cruel as hell those are some monster fish. Maybe you could do some tea cups in there but def not Mottoros I'd say you need atleast 1,000 gallon for them to be happy.

If you said that about the Arowana's when they got bigger (12") I would agree with you. But, Motoro's?? You can keep a Motoro in a 55 when it's small; say up to 5" or so. 220 would be enough space for a pair to live happily.

At least this is based on all the research I've done. Where have you seen different?

I have a friend that breeds motoros and he keeps them in super wide 500gal tanks. His are about the size of the hood on a car. He has 3 of the 500 gals and at times they still look crammed in there, i can't imagine 2 3' diameter rays being happy in a 220 especially when they need floor space not height.

Wow, I've never seen a Motoro that big! Ok, point well taken. Guess I'm going to have to go with an indoor pond then. :division:
