I try to give up on Berlin Filter Socks, so many times, YES is pain in the neck, but I don't believe , is something better ( mechanical filter , except Protein Skimmer) to keep tank clean and healthy. CMantis is right NOT big deal for Diatom Filter, u may buy one used, or even broke, pump fall, I hate that pump, I use few times a year, if may leak, mean , u don't install the top cover correct, u have to hold w/one hand down to jar (hold some pressure) the w/anther hand start tide the screws (cross) if your sand go everywhere , may be wrong size, hard to say more Flow, when your Aqua scope may be not the best choice. If u have Nitrate , I suspect your fuge, If I was u, I will grow more chaeto Macro Algae , skip the Rowa. If you like, keep the Diatom Filter in one 5 gal. bucket when u run.

Wow. Yes that is true. It is pumping from the basement so along the way it loses pressure. It's a distance of about 8-10 feet from pump,to tank. Yes I do blast the sand sometimes before a water change and that's when I usually run my filter socks to catch whatever they can. I wouldn't think there would be too much dietrus with all 4 gobies. Especially the 1 diamond goby that's all he does all day is sift. As well as the 2 big hermits. If I was to get more pumps I think I will go with 2 smaller ones like the wp-25/rw-8. Would I also be able to run all 4 off the reef angel?

@vio- for some reason I can't seem to grow chaeto. I have the cfl lights that were recommended to me and I have a reef-brite led lights that was made/used for algae growth. I think it may be a flow issue also in my fuge. I have a little seio pump. Some say let it tumble. Some say just leave it. It's right under the drain so it would catch everything that comes out

Yeah I kind of figure that out afterwards. So realistically half the recommended amount of rowaphos will reduce my phosphates to what? Change it out after a week and add a little more. Would it be down to respectable levels within 2 weeks? I just don't wanna reduce it to quickly and hurt my corals
