I put a Sea Hare in my tank on Friday. It's unbelievable how they target hair algae. I'm now taking orders for this great natural hair algae predator.

Anybody that would like to get in on this $15 critter post here. I'm sure we can arrange a very convenient way for handing these off.

The price on the sea hares (as in all livestock) will vary according to the suppliers price. I have posted a few various prices and will pass the savings on to you accordingly.

Not a pic of mine, but this is what they look like:

dont they run the risk of releasing lots of toxins if they die?

#1 I don't try to kill them :kidding: (no comments necessary  ).
#2 I run carbon 24/7
#3 I suggest getting them only if you have HA.
#4 These are not giant ones (which I have had 4" - 5" ones) they are about 2" - 2.5". Hence smaller animals, less toxins.
#5 We maintain plenty of critters in our tanks that could wreak havoc on our systems if they die.

Disclaimer, in order to keep the peace, these animals are for advanced hobbyists only. They have the potential to release toxins. I accept no responsibility for any losses incurred. Proceed with caution. Only purchase them if you have hair algae you want to get rid of.

can they get caught up in a powerhead?
i have HA and i would love one of these guys to be in charge of clean-up, i'm just on the fence deciding if they are worth the risk
(i dont run carbon 24/7).

I believe you have a large system. I don't think (1) would have any affect to your tank, if it should happen to die.
I had one that crawled into my overflow & survived.....only to be eaten by my Acans...:grumpy:

Ah! not worth the trip, i'd spend more on gas. you're probably better off finding someone closer (unless you're ever in midtown)

I don't see any issues with powerheads Albert.

These are also a real good size for a small system too. I have two. I put one in my 75 and one in my 15 gallon fuge. The fuge should have enough food to keep him going forever, lol.

I've got the following so far:

- Phil - 1
- Albert - 1 (no wedgies allow )
