R, can you show what these fans look like? Do they clip on the side of the tank or just in the canopy?

When I upgrade I am thinking about adding a drop in chiller to my 37g..

Any that are small (1/3 hp or less) that have the drop in coil less than 5"?

I've been looking for one, but so far no dice...I'd like to place the coil in my Aqua Clear 70 HOB - like I have my Ice Probe now..

1/10th, 1/6th, 1/5th, 1/4 are all smaller than 1/3rd ?? Plus the problem with that (?chiller? Peltier cooler is what it is) is that is isn't an actual chiller. It uses more electricity than a normal 1/10th chiller and works 1/100th less than a real chiller would. Just check the specs. So you pay $200 for it but it costs you $200 in electric a year. That just plain sucks.

The 1/10 cost $100 more and works perfectly (or $50 more used).

yeah- 1/5 is smaller than 1/3!

were you referring to the links, or the one that deep put up?

I only have a 37g, no need for a 1/4hp chiller yet!

what would you recommend - I can't do inline b/c I won't have plumbing w/ sump for some time...

Newbie question: the horsepower ratings on chillers like 1/4, 1/5, etc. refer to the power of the compressor, right? Why are chillers commonly gauged on compressor power? At first blush, I'd think cooling ability (e.g., BTUs per hour or watts) would be more useful. From this link http://www.drsfostersmith.com/pic/article.cfm?dept_id=0&aid=358 it looks like the relationship between HP and BTUs can be pretty diverse....

What am I missing?

FWIW, these fans can also run at full speed if desired by cutting off the temp probe (which is what i did) - This way those with a temp controller (I have an AquaController) can just turn the fan on/off based on water temp (if that is what you want). Note that you will lose the ability the ramp the speed up or down if you cut off the temp probe, but you can always wire it back together again if you wanted to.
