Just wanted to share my sunday with you guys (well part of it at least) I took a long drive out to brooklyn (from north jersey) to find a jewel in the middle of nowhere. The jewel I speak of is no other then our aquatic creations. I was very happily suprised by the diversity of coral. Acan's priced right, Fire & Ice zoas, and very nice sps frags. The staff was very friendly (usually not the case since i have 3 small children) and helpful as well. I had an incident earlier this week with a LFS who believed it was okay to repremand my 3 year old daughter (3 years old) for pointing at the fish. For those of us with reef tanks and children know that our kids have good fish tank etiquette. To make a long story short i gave them a piece of my mind and a loss of my business. My daughter spent her happy hour at AC playing with a very friendly feline and pointed out to me two fish that she admired. A much more pleasant experience. My son shared his repeated affection a firefish. My youngest slept comfortably in his carseat in the peacful enviorment. Unfortunately i missed you sean but, you should know your in good hands :) I picked up a very nice favia at an amazing price (THX sean for the MR discount). Amazing coloration as well I must ad. Definately worth the time, gas, and tolls. I'll post pics later for all those visualizers out there.

Thanks again to the AC staff and to Sean for his brooklyn aquatic creation.

I passed thru Sean's place on Friday and liked it. He didn't have much sps in there at the time but that was cool. His big acrylic lit by 2 1000W pendants was really nice. I talked with him and Oliver (I think) for a minute. It was great to see how much knowledge these guys had.

I still think importing fish directly like fishtown and setting up a quarantine system in the basement of back would be a good thing. Absolutely Fish in NJ has something like this. Cheap and healthy :))) fish would bring in a lot of people and then they could spend a whole lota money on corals.

I also think that fragging some of the corals up would be better than selling them as colonies. Instead of selling the colonies for $70, you could frag them up for $15 and probably make more selling frags than colonies. From my standpoint I'd rather get a whole bunch of frags than one colony. If the colony dies, thats it; with multiplie frags I get a variety; and after all this is a hobby, so I like to see my frags grow.

And lastly I think the decor of the shop is really important. Seans store has a lot of potential. I showed him the LFS that got me hooked on the hobby, The Reef Shoppe. I really think the environment of a LFS can draw people in and further the hobby.

Good to meet you guys!

Hey guys,

Sorry, I must have missed this thread. I have brought my 4-year old daughter to Aquatic Creations and she loves the store! All she does is run around and look at everything with Joy (the person) and joy (the quality). lol

Oliver is a great guy and is great at playing low key but don't be fooled he really knows his stuff! He will always help you to make the right decisions.

As far as the environment goes, I think Sean, Oliver and Joy have established a great vibe to the place. Oftentimes when I go down there on the weekends everyone in the store gets treated to drinks (sorry Sean, if I called it out :)). They don't stress you about taking your time with purchases or even if you purchase at all. Overall it is a very relaxed atmosphere and you always feel like they have time for you. I am sure that putting in new floors, walls, decor etc. wouldn't hurt but, to me, the atmosphere is more important.

Just wanted to chime in!

I really like that store too. Tom over at the Reef Shoppe is really cool to just chat with about ideas and very informative. Caribbean Forest is just a few blocks from there as well. I've only been to them twice though and wish they were closer. I plan to eventually make a trip back up there sometime this year hopefully. http://www.caribbeanforest.com/
