I am looking to purchase a skimmer for my 265g build. It will be a heavily stocked tank. Looking for an in sump skimmer so clearance is an issue as i only have 30" under the stand and that includes getting the cup off. I prefer euroreef, reef dynamics, bermuda, precision marine bullet series, atb, or deltec, as long as they will fit and can handle way more than 265g. I am not looking for asm, coralife, kent, or red sea. Please let me know what you have, age, condition, etc., and how much you would be looking to get. Pics appreciated.

what is the space available to fit the skimmer in ? i see you need under 30" but what foot print do you have to fit one and what is the height of the water it will sit in and what is your price range ? seeing you put deltec i am imagining you dont mind spending for the right skimmer

How much are you willing to spend? I have a deltec that cost $1800 new, it can handle a 500 tank (mine is a few years old and not in use now). PM me if you want to know how much i want for it.

I am not sure on footprint as I don't hv the sump yet. I am thinking about getting one custom made or making my own. I will be using an external dart for my sump return as I will be taking it off the 135g im taking down. I don't want to go ridiculously crazy but will pay for quality. After some research I may stay away from deltec as a buddy has a deltec product and is waiting almost two months for parts. Im guessing water depth at around 7".

if in sump is a must

Thanks for the informative reply. I'm gonna research them now. Are these needle wheel skimmers? I have had issues with the needle wheel skimmers in the past. Some asm's i had in the past the pumps kept seizing and after multiple replacements gave up on needle wheel skimmers? Have these issues been resolved with these newer brands? Thanks in advance.

these are all needle wheels, im not a asm fan at all, even though it use's the same sedra euroreef used. the pumps on the skimmers i listed are nothing like the sedra's though, much better and more efficient. if ya would really talk about skimmer shoot me a pm and will go from there

I say Reef Octopus. I have a SRO-500EXT and I love it. The XP is very nice as well.

even though you have 30" under the tank, you need to consider the height of the sump and how much clearance (the width of the foot print also comes into play here) you have for taking the skimmer in and out for service or replacement.
i had to take the tank off the stand and knock out the center brace to put the sump and skimmer in. and that skimmer was there to stay....no room to take it out without draining the tank and take it off the stand. luckily i didn't have to do that before my 300 gal. upgrade.

i agree with noob on external....you can go either way on xp-3000ext or xp-5000ext. the xp 5000ext may be a bit much for right now but if you plan to add volume then it should be good.
i got an xp-3000ext for my heavily stocked 300 gal.....recommended by reef specialty.
