What's going on everyone, I'm currently looking for a large tank with dimensions around 8ft L x 4ft W x 2ft H.
Glass or acrylic.

Why not look into glasscages.com. You could get it new with whatever you want built in. The rub with them is that they always do a "lousy" job with silicone but I have seen quite a few tanks from them (including one of mine) and it doesn't look bad to me!

Don't go glass cages. As far as going with acrylic, I'd say pointless. Your only going to save a couple hundred pounds in weight. If u have the money go with miracles in glass.

Pointless ??? I think you are mis-informed. Not only is acrylic lighter it is stronger, lasts longer, scratches can be buffed out and is clearer than glasss. I guess these are all pointless...........:)

+1... have been using acrylic tanks for over 20 years (still have a 120g that I bought in 1993)...
my 450g was built by GlassCages and I have no problems with it, and many MR members have seen it in person.
