Aaaaa, placing some of the blame/responsibility on me, nice.
I have kept butterflies before and it takes a few days to entice them.
I was told the tanks were fed a couple of hours before i got there. The place is small, tanks are packed with fish and with 6 to 8 customers inside its hard to move around, I was not going to ask to prove it on the spot, I give people a certain level of trust and saying tanks were fed earlier implies fish ate.
Last thing I expected was to be sold a Queen Angel that was not eating and yes, this is something the store very much, secondly, it's a wild fish, new tank I figured I would try anything and everything to get it to adjust.
It did not cross my mind to take it back to the store for an exchange for several reasons, for one, I have never ever ever done such a thing, taking back a fish to a store and the second is that the place is in NY and I am in NJ.
I dont want to get into it, stores and vendors know when their fish, especially expensive fish are eating or not.
Now I just want to buy another but I dont want to have to pay store price again.
I would like to add that I have seen stores take fish in BUT free of charge, as in donations. I hate to have to beg and ask and could you please and I was not going to. Can you please help me, can you exchange it, oh come on please. His receipt did not list it as a policy therefore I was not going to go back and bargain and plea. It was the first time I was there anyhow, not a years long customer where a store might be more inclined to help me out.
Not a good sign, and a big warning sign that you shouldn't have brought the fish in the first place.
Very important lesson here, though unfortunately and I'm sure very costly. Very hardy fish should always be eating before you buy them, if they're not, then that's not a good sign and you should most likely pass on them or wait until they start to eat.
As for the store, they should have mention to you that the fish wasn't eating and the risk of buying the fish. Also, they should have told you how long that they've had the fish, as if it just came in that maybe a reason why it's not eating. At that point it would be up to you to take a chance that it would start to eat. I've know some places that would actually give a discount on a fish, just to easy the cost of you taking on the risk it wouldn't eat and may die.
