WTB: Deltec MC500 Skimmer or Reef Dynamics RSM 250 Skimmer

Hey,

I'm looking for a replacement skimmer for the stock skimmer on my RSM 250. I'd like either the Deltec MC500 skimmer, or the Reef Dynamics Red Sea Max 250 Nano Skimmer. Please PM me if selling. Thanks!

I run the reef dynamic skimmer on my 250 with just 1 of the 2 pumps and it blows the stock skimmer away. Good luck. Bump

Awesome! That's what I'm leaning towards now. I might just buy a new one since my stock skimmer pump burned out, and I need something asap. Just curious, why do you use only 1 of the pumps? Does it overskim with both or something?

The reef dynamic comes with two pretty small pumps. One of the reasons is that if you run both pumps you have to restrict the intake airflow or the cup fills up every 30 minutes. The other reason is that there is only a place for 1 plug in the rsm250 power strip. I love this skimmer. I clean the cup about every 5 days when the bubbles start coming through the holes in the lid. It's the worst smelling skimmate I've ever smelled I find that one pump is sufficient and the air valve can be left all the way open. Highly recommend this skimmer. There is about a 1 week break in period where you have to keep a close eye on it but after that its perfect. Much quieter then the stock pump. Draws 1/5 the power. Keeps the water temp more stable and you can close the lid completely. One of my favorite parts of my tank now. Should have gotten it sooner. Good luck. Also I looked into the deltec mc500 and it gets great reviews also however closing the lid is an issue and its considerably louder then the reef dynamic.
