Just finalized the tank set up in my living room now and when I sit on the couch/chair the lights are blinding. They are hanging about 12'' from the water. Looking for a canopy to put on the top of the tank to prevent the light spilling into the room. Lights are hanging from ceiling so needs to be open door on front would be helpful for feeding etc. I do have an overflow box with a U tube so not sure how this would work. Even if it covers the left, front, and right side of the tank i don't care if the back/top is open.

Black in color

Thanks

I have a fully enclosed canopy in black with two 4" 110v fans installed on either sides for $75. It is piano hinged on top and doors in the front.
This is a pic of the canopy sitting in my garage:

This is when it was on top of the 90g that I had at work before I retired:

I'll measure the top but I believe about 3/4 of the top board is hinged. The problem that I see if you just take the top hinged part off is that it would look a bit off.
Why do you need the top open, for ceiling suspended light hanging kit? If that is the case, you can probably have someone build you a simple light box. It's the ability to access the top and front which makes a canopy expensive to build.
