Wow, they wanted $200 for it? They can be pricey, but I have no idea why a mystery wrasse would go for that much. For reference, they can be pretty nasty, as with any pseudocheilinus wrasse. If you plan on having any other wrasses, I'd steer clear of that genus.
I hope you don't mind some suggestions, as I have 7 wrasses. Multiples of the same species don't mix well, they will change to males and kill all others like them. Pseudocheilinus (6 line, mystery, etc...) will probably kill the possum wrasses. Possum wrasses are some of the shyest and Pseudocheilinus are the most aggressive. If you want to mix and match wrasses, get one per species, and skip the pseudocheilinus if you want to have any other wrasses.
can you give me some ideas on which wrasses I can put together in all I probably want 4-5 wrasses its only a 120 gallon tank so I prefer they stay small. thats why I was going with the mystery and possum wrasses
Faireys and flashers would do great in a 120. I only have a 110, but it's 5 feet long. I have like 5 faireys, 1 flasher, 1 leopard, and 1 flasher. Cirrhilabrus and parachillenius are what you want. Drop me a pm if you want more specific advice.
Hey Joe a lot of good advice given. Possums are reclusive normally, but with a Mystery you would never see it before it probably would be killed. You seen my tank ....you can have a good mixture of wrasses, not just flashers and fairies, but leopards, Tamarins and some of the less aggressive Haliochoeres species....I heard you picked up a pair of Wannabe Angels....great choice for a reef... You beat me to them...LOL good luck with them.
Thanks mike, I managed to score some beautiful fish with Andy yesterday, the watanabei angelfish are doing great along with the others I added. I ended up going the fairy wrasse route with a rosy wrasse and two flame wrasses. I love being able to add a bunch of different wrasse with minimal disputes so I'm hoping to make that list grow. You beat me to those bellus lol gorgeous fish you got but I'm also happy with the alternative. The watanabei have some beautiful sky blue coloration.
The anthias came in real good I picked up 3 lyretail anthias out of bali from aquarium village two weeks ago. Took them a week to settle and come out of hiding
