So my nitrates are pretty high as I had a fish only tank and I've been converting it to a reef again. I just did a 50% water change and I'm looking for something to help lower those nitrates, Ive read pulsing xenias can help. I have a bio pellet reactor coming in next week so that should help as well.

I?ve not heard of Xenia having that effect either.

I have a colony, over 20 heads, can do it for $10.

I'm not sure if the Xenia removes nitrates, but I recall meeting some guys on here in the pass that have had a bunch of xenias in their sump and claimed that they help. I think most soft corals use some sort of nirate to an extent, so do clams and other filter feeders, but I'm pretty sure it's not excessive, but look at some tanks like sanjay's zero maintance tank, he's running nothing besides lights and no water changes full of softies.

But I think water changes, algae scrubbers, micro algae fuge, all would do way more damage than a few Xenia's if tanks packed with fish.
