yeah I went to all the LFS here in Boston. I'm not up to traveling to CT.
But if anyone is willing to help me get one I can Paypal you the money etc.. before hand. I'm looking for a Peacock really.. Because I already bought a N.wennerae from someone on this forum awhile back. LFS here in Boston aren't really that good lol... we rarely get any Mantis Shrimps here and if I have them order me one it will cost an arm n leg lol.. around 85bucks.

Mantis shrimp actually have surprisingly soft shells...you can peel them off...but yes, they are sharp at the edges. Taste good, but weird..they don't turn red like other crustaceans. I once caught a 9 lb bluefish that had a huge one in its stomach. I've never seen one alive, but once after a very heavy rain I found several dead ones along the shore of Peconic Bay...I guess the drop in salinity killed them. Take care, Eric

Description from about dot com

Mantis would be a nice species only tank but the problem with that is it has to be a thick tank, aren't there stories of them shattering glass tanks?

You couldn't put it in a 10g aga tank right?

" "There are two hunting categories, the "spearers" and the "smashers". The "spearers" use their spear-like claw to silently stab soft tissued prey. The "smashers" use their forceful, club-like claw to hit, crack open or pulverize harder bodied prey. It is interesting that the power of the "smashers" appendage can produce a blow close to the power of a .22 caliber bullet and are notoriously known as thumb splitters. It is rumored that because of the tremendous strength these animals have, they can crack aquarium glass." "

Good Luck finding him. Hope your looking for a spear type.
