I am looking for something nice some hints websites,stores, etc... for a nice camera to take all different kind of shots. tank shots,coral shots. A nice camera. willing to spend some where around $500-$1000

If you decided to go with Nikon and your budget is close to $1k, get D80.

If you decided to go with Canon, I guess XTi is awsome for the money.

You can't go wrong with either Nikon or Canon, both excellent company. And it's not all about which camera body you have, it's all about which lense you got. Average lenses cost $200 to $400. But if you really want to get nice Lense, they are easily $500+.

Read as much as you can from dpreview and ask many questions before you jumped into this expensive hobby.

Sometime DSLR camera hobby can cost you as much as your reef tank, maybe more.

they are both good systems. neither one is "better" go by comparing different camera bodies.
