I have a Sea Swirl now that died after about 3 years of use. I don't know why it stopped working but I have a sneaking suspicion that it was during one of our on/off/on/off power outages on Long Island. I wanted to replace it and have seen the WavySea units at Greenwich Aquaria. I have also seen the Xwave online that looks like the WavySea. Does anyone have any experience with these units? Or should I just stick with the Sea Swirl?

Background: The Sea Swirl is currently my return from my basement sump with a BlueLine 70HD running that and an AquaC EV-240.

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone might have.

I switched to wavy seas with my new tank. Before that I used sea swirls for about 5 years. Right now I like the wavy sea much better. it is easy to set up. the rotation can be adjusted to anything from 360d or less, it handles more flow and the rotation speed can be adjusted with 6 different setting.

Thanks for chiming in, the WavySea does look like a pretty good unit, lots of customization potential. Someone else suggested that I contact SeaSwirl (Aquarium Currents) and see how much it is to service the unit, since the design has remained pretty much the same for awhile and its probably only the motor. I'll try that first and see if I get anywhere. Before I do though, I'll need to do some temporary plumbing work to unmount the SeaSwirl. I'll post back here with any updates for the benefit of the community.
Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the info, I also wanted to say you had and have some awesome setups. I plumbed my sump to the basement too, but giving it that much space as in your setup is quite the luxury! Makes maintenance much easier too.
