I know you can get it at most plastic stores. There is one downtown and I know acme plastic here in totowa nj; or on-line ordering. The stuff is cheap and light so it might be cheaper then driving to get it.

Johnny, Bruckner hobbies by my store has it. They are on East Tremont & Lafayette...

Actually I will be walking by them in a little, I will check on it.

Forget it, thet don't have it. They said they get it from a place called Freeman art supplies in White Plains when they need to...

In my experience the only places that carry it are businesses that deal in acrylic & plexi..look in the phone book under 'plastics' for someone local to you.

I have an unused bottle in my garage. I bought it from a shop near the New Rochelle metro north train station called Plastic something, don't remember exactly. It doesn't have an applicator though but I can get you some needles and syringes. Is it the liquid kind of weldon you want?

Make sure it does not have a rubber plunger part, Weldon will eat that up quick.

Johnny, get some paste\gel weldon too, much easier to use for repairs.

I been looking for weld-on 40 and 16 here in Nassau County w/o any luck. Try http://www.lifereef.com/frame.html and scroll down to "Acrylics, Plastic Grid, Acrylic Tubing, Acrylic Cement"

Acme Plastics in Westbury carries # 16 and #3, not sure about #4 (diff between 3 and 4 is drying time).
570 Union Blvd (just off Post Rd north of Old Country Rd) 876-4880
Nice people :)

Thanks for the information Kathy C. As per Lifereef, Weld-on 40 is a two part cement best for gluing acrylic tubing to acrylic flat sheet and weld-on 16 is best for gluing PVC to acrylic.

Want to buy weldon glue, the one that comes with the applicator. Does anyone know where I can buy it around the Bronx area?

Weldon brand does not come with any applicator.

I have the #16 and can probably sell you one of my applicator.

For thin liquid type weldon, applicator and are available in Canal Plastic. They do not have applicator for the thicken type.

So whats the best type for repairing leaks in an acrylic sumps?

Clean the sump and let dry completely,

Apply the very thin liquid type first Weldon #3 or #4 with needle applicator

Then add thicken #16 with sufficient amount so that it completely block the leaking area.

Let glue to cured for at least 24 hours before reuse. Strength of the solvent glue will continue to grow for many hours until it finally settled. So if the glue say it cures in 4 hours you should let it stay for like 24 hours. If the glue say 3 minutes, you let it stay for 2-4 hours for much stronger bond.

Study what caused the leak-if it's stress related due to bulging(due to water pressure) and other dimensional changes(like when you pull the sump at the middle top of the wall), you should consider strengthen the sump with acrylics braces.

Thanks for the advice. Is Weldon the only appropriate type? What about Tenax 7R or other stuff? Can't find Weldon locally and would rather buy locally then pay for shipping and wait a week.
