My coral banded seems to be getting more and more predatory and is even harder to catch than my sally lightfoot was. I don't wanna pull apart the rockwork so I was wondering if anyone has a trap I could borrow. Sorry mods if this is the wrong thread - doesn't really fit in a category!!

how about just go out and drink a 2 liter pepsi and then make it into a bottle trap? it's like 79 cents plus tax and deposit when they're on sale. or you could go recycling bin diving.

BCS are kinda clumsy and slow moving. Im surprised you are having a hard time catching it.

The bottle trap suggestion KLRDRGN gave you is a good idea. At little bit of bait and your good to go.

cut the top around where the label is on the bottle. Invert the cut part and insert it into the bottle. Secure the two pieces with glue, tape or some sort of adhesive. You know have a bottle trap. Its basically a funnel placed inside of the bottle. The shrimp will crawl inside after the food but will not be able to get out due to the location of the opening.

uhuh...ingenious. But, I don't think the shrimp will be able to fit inside...

Make the opening large enough for the shrimp to fit. A BCS is about as thick as a pencil when it puts its claws together. Once it enters it will drop down to the food. Being that the shrimp is so smart it will try to crawl back out. Unfortunately, it wont realize that it will have to "swim" up to the opening in order to get out.

Use a gatorade bottle instead. It has a wider opening. See this pic for the basic idea:
