need then cheap or free prefered. new to the hobby want to start a nano first, before i move up. i need about 3 tanks for the setup. 1 will be a display, the next a sump and then a refuge tank. trying to do things right so all ideas will be apreaciated..... im an african cichlid breeder and want to branch out in to salt african cichlids is the closest i an get to the color of salt in fresh water

I started with a 55 because i hear a 10 gallon tank or smaller thanks are a harder to take care of and are more likely to crash. I am sure u are up to it but just research and ask alot of questions here which alot of nice people will help

BTW when i get home i will check in my basement i think i have a 10 gallon which i am not using
Nano Reefs are more difficult if the total water capacity is small.
If you are using 3 10 gallon tanks at capacity you now have the equivalent of a 30 gallon tank which is more stable.
Realistically you could run the main tank and the fuge at capacity and the sump at half capacity, then you would have a 25 gallon system which is a lot different than a 10 gallon nano reef.
Im not saying a 25 is easy, just saying that it different than a 10 gallon nano.
It would be easier to start with a 55 though.
Take your time planning it, you have a great idea. If it were me, I would create a vertical rack system so the water cascades between tanks. Display Fuge to Display Tank to Sump.

i was thinking around the same lines setting everything up vertical its the best and most effecient(maybe wrong spelling) way to set this up need an idea for a return pump??? about how strong should the return pump be??how many gph
