well the thing is i have a in sump skimmer now that someone gave me but i think the pump its no good because its not swirling and giving me foam dont no if it just needs to be broken in?im not really on a budget but dont want to pay 200 dollers for a skimmer for a 40 gallon tank if its was 90 and above its a whole different story

can you put some pictures up? it could be a bunch of things causing your skimmer not to foam up.. if you want to explore fixing it rather than buying new.. I'd be glad to try and help out.
