When I started fishing as a kid it was a big thrill, then when I was about 20 I got certified to dive with a friend of mine. We had boats and dove every weekend for years but in the beginning in the seventees almost no one dove here in the Long Island Sound. We usually went for lobsters or wrecks and it was so much fun and we caught so many fish and lobsters that we lost all interest in fishing from the boat. Why wait all day for a flounder when I could stab two at a time. Anyway we would usually dive around rocks because thats where the fish and lobsters were and of course there was always boats with people fishing there. We used to bring down signs with us to put on people's hooks like "sorry Charlie" or "how about some fresh bait" Sometimes we would put a rubber chicken on a line. When we surfaced, of course they realized that it was us and they asked us where are all the fish because they weren't usually catching much due to the abundance of shrimp in the Sound. We would hold up our bags full of flounders and lobsters and say, they're all in here. A lot of that happened here at Execution Lighthouse in the middle of the western Sound, commissioned by George Washington. ![]() Here I am sitting on the rocks there ![]() Last edited by Paul B; 08-21-2008 at 03:00 PM. |
