Dont look at my tank thread, as mentioned above, as I tend to rush things...However, that puts me in an advantageous place now, as I speak from experiance...If you rush things, you will look back at some point and say, "I wish I had...." Take your time now and learn/plan while you can, otherwise it will be to late and you will not be able to change things.

and thank you for the apology....I am sorry I had low expectations of you, best of luck.

Inneed, you have had many of our best come to give you advice here. I sincerely & honestly hope you learn a little something from them!
Please listen to them!!! I happen to LOVE stingrays also, and would love nothing more then to have 1 or 2!! Let me tell you that although I have been reefing for over 8 years now, I still do not have one, nor will I unless I can provide them with the very best chance of survival that I they so much deserve. This is a glorious creature that will grow very large, and honestly a 150 gallon fish bowl will just not do.......... You should provide this animal with a tank that is no less then 72" X 36". Height I don't think matters much as they like the bottom.:) Their width can be over 2' when fully grown. Imagine this 2' wide animal in a 18" wide tank. It's sides would have to be curled up on the sides of the glass.:(
There are so many many other beautifull animals that you could keep in your 150.:)
There comes a time that we all come to that we just can't have what we want...
I hope this has not come off harsh as that is not my intent........

Keep researching, learn all you can about every single animal you would like to keep, and you & your animals will be that much more the happier.:)

ok so getting a 150 gal would be a waste of my money wat size tank would be best for them i mean i got money to waste i mean i dont got it like that but for now i got a lil sumthing to spare.....

You said you have 1 tank already yes? That will sink plenty of cash, do not worry about that. Do it up right. Check my tank thread for a basic cost. I am in over 2k for a 28 gallon only a few months in. Figure you can beat that easy. ;)

You are probably looking for a 300 gallon tank. Has I stated before the height is not important for a ray. The width & length is what matters.
So you need to look into a tank with the length & width of at the very least 72" X 36" X ?(height would be a matter of preferance to you for comfort & ease of maintenance)

If you are talking about when you get a new fish, and you drip acclimate it to your tank therefor reducing the level of water in your tank: You need to replace it with premade water. Water that you have already added salt to, and tested to make sure is the same as the water in your tank.:)

how much are you dripping? like a gallon or two or less? It really doesn't matter as to how your gonna re-add the water but it could fix it if your dripping too much.

The point of dripping is to slowly add some of your water so the fish/animals get used to the salinity and PH, untill the water in the container matches your tank PH and salinity, before adding them into your tank. And should be or usually ends up being no more than double what water you started with, maybe 1.5x. So if your starting with 1/4 gallon of water for example you should only end up dripping in another half gallon before the water is relatively close to your tank water.

You need to keep your salinity stable, so your going to have to add salt water to top it back off at whatever your salinity is at in the tank. If its 3/4 gallon in a 30g tank you might not see the difference if you top it back off with salted water or clean RO/DI so its up to you. It all depends if your salinity is on the high or low end of where it should be. With evaporation your adding straight RO/DI because your not losing salt when water evaporates.

You set up a sw tank, you have fish in it, and you don't have any test kits?
How did you know that your tank had cycled before you put the fish in?
WOW! Inneed, I'm sorry darling, but this is really sounding like you are just here jankin our chain.. No offense intended!!

No INNEED, we are here because we all share an interest in the hobby.

You can most benefit at this point by doing your own research first, then, and only then, asking the right questions. As I read this post it looks like you are just questions and it seems the more you ask the less you know. And the worst part of all this, you seem to believe anything anyone tells you.
The advice in here is, for the most part, sound and correct. Im curious what is your LFS? You dont have to answer if you dont want to.

Please, read as much information as you can and then ask questions. You will understand this so much better. And most important, do this before you buy any more livestock.

I would just say take you sweet (*&&^^ time and just let the tank sit and fest devol. the rock and system. add a fish in about 4 months just let the tank cycle out with rock and sand. first stage brown algie, and spikes so have fun

Fake until there are pictures (they can be the worst possible pictures EVER!) Anything, before the mob comes out with the pitchforks. 21st century ... all cell phones have cameras now ... even the pre-paid phones have them now.

The advice in here is, for the most part, sound and correct. Im curious what is your LFS? You dont have to answer if you dont want to.

He should answer this ... note they also told him to test his water with sea horses ... now in all fairness ... after being to MANY LFS's and in this hobby ... I have never heard something that damn stupid ... and I have heard a lot of BS, even from the most reputable places. Telling people to buy everything at once fish included is NOT uncommon ... at all, but seahorses ... BS ... I can't even say Petco would say that!
