skimmers ??

Ok so my mind Is set that I want reef octopus cone I have a question on them the module I am looking at have a normal one with pump outside and a space saver with the pump inside what I want know is do the skimmers do exactly the same or one is better and y ... I have a small sump so the space saver would work better but if the normal skimmer does a better job them I would go with it and make it work ... so far I only see one issue with the space saver I would have take the pump out the skimmer to clean it ... this is almost a ??for. Noob/ & russ lol or some who own both skimmers and can give Good pro and con on what I am asking
