Gross!

I was moving my feather duster and the worm came out of its tube. Gross! Will it survive? What should I do?

Keep the tube there it will sometimes go back into it ...it may make a nnew tube or it may not make it....did it just drop its "feathers"(crown) or did it come completely out?

IMO...if the worm is out of the tube...the chances of survival are very low.

It's completely out of the tube, but the feathers are still intact.

Your best bet is to cover the worm in your sandbed leaving the crown exposed. As long as it's healthy it should secrete a new tube using the sand and then go from there. Just be careful with it and cover it gently. Leave it alone for awhile and you should be ok.

That's what I did. It seems to be ok as of now. I guess at this point it's just a waiting game. How long does it take for it to make a new tube?

If it isn't damaged, maybe a few days to two weeks to create enough of a tube where it could be moved again without it falling apart. I wouldn't even think about it though, just let it sit there and once you see it start retracting in and out of the tube or rotating in place you'll know for sure.
